Special Education Services

At Buena Vista, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive support system for students with diverse learning and emotional needs. Our school offers two specialized programs designed to assist students in achieving their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally:

  1. Resource Specialist Program (RSP)
The RSP is designed to support students with mild to moderate learning disabilities, providing individualized academic assistance within the general education setting. Through personalized instruction, students in the RSP receive tailored interventions in areas such as reading, writing, and math. Our goal is to foster independence while ensuring students have the necessary support to succeed.

  1. Specialized Day Class (SDC) Mental Health Program
The SDC Mental Health Program is designed for students with more significant emotional or behavioral needs. This program provides a structured, supportive environment where students can receive targeted academic instruction alongside therapeutic support. We focus on social-emotional learning, behavioral strategies, and individualized therapeutic interventions, helping students build skills for personal and academic success.

  1. Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS)
Our ERMHS provider is integral to supporting students with mental health challenges. Offering counseling and therapeutic services, the ERMHS program works in collaboration with both the RSP and SDC teams to address the emotional well-being of students. By providing a blend of individual and group therapy, the ERMHS team helps students manage mental health issues and develop coping strategies, ensuring they feel supported both in and outside of the classroom.

At Buena Vista, we are committed to meeting the unique needs of all students by providing a holistic approach to education, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed academically and emotionally.
