Dual Enrollment / AP Courses

Dual enrollment offers high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses while still enrolled in high school, earning both high school and college credits simultaneously. This program provides students with a head start on their post-secondary education, allowing them to explore college courses, accelerate their academic progress, and gain valuable experience in a higher education setting. Buena Vista offers an after-school class through Compton College for students to receive college credit.

At Buena Vista High School, dual enrollment is available through partnerships with local community colleges, offering students access to a range of courses in various subject areas, including those aligned with their career interests. By participating in dual enrollment, students can:

  • Earn college credits while still in high school, potentially saving time and money in their future academic journey.

  • Experience the rigor and expectations of college coursework, better preparing them for the transition to higher education.

  • Explore fields of interest and enhance their career readiness by taking specialized courses.

  • Develop strong study habits, time management, and academic skills that are essential for success in both high school and college.

Dual enrollment is an excellent opportunity for students who are motivated, academically prepared, and interested in pursuing advanced coursework in their areas of interest. The program is designed to help students make a smooth transition to college, enhance their academic portfolios, and take the next step toward achieving their educational and career goals
